Apple Security Alert – Apple has released a new security patch for a bug that was reportedly detected by experts at Google and Microsoft.
The bug vulnerability that was discovered apparently impacts the memory domain in WebKit, which is the browser engine behind Safari on Apple MacBooks and iPhones.
The latest security patch was addressed in the macOS Big Sur 11.2.3, iOS 14.4.1, and the iPadOS 14.4.1.
Apple yet to address the bug:
From the Apple aspect, the tech giant yet to address the bug vulnerability and has not released any official statements regarding the same. Details regarding the bug vulnerability are also indistinct since the tech organization did not comment on whether the bug was exploited before the security patch release.
The security concern by Apple:
However, the organization did mention that the bug vulnerability resulted in the Safari browser being exposed to processing malicious web-based content.
This could have subsequently lead to arbitrary code execution in the device systems.

The bug vulnerability, designated as CVE-2021-1844, was detected by security researchers at Google’s Threat Analysis Group and Microsoft’s Browser Vulnerability Research Group.
The iOS updates have been released for the iPhone 6s and subsequently, for the iPad Air 2 and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation).
iOS 14.4.1 is available now worldwide and contains a 138MB update. “This update provides important security updates and is recommended for all users,” Apple noted in their security update. iPhone owners can go to the Settings app and check for software updates to get the patch.

Last month, Apple had also released iOS 14.4 security updates for three vulnerabilities that were allegedly under dynamic assault by bad actors. Two of these vulnerabilities had impacted the same browser engine WebKit. The third vulnerability was detected in the kernel of the framework.
