WhatsApp is making news rounds again this week with a new virus link that is circulating the instant messaging platform known as WhatsApp Pink.

In recent App developments, a message containing a malicious virus link is getting broadcasted on a significant scale.

Malicious WhatsApp Pink messages:

The message dupes users into clicking the link by claiming to turn the application to the color pink.

Detailing the malicious abilities of the WhatsApp Pink virus, malicious actors can hack a victim’s mobile device and users could lose access to their WhatsApp accounts.

As is becoming increasingly evident, WhatsApp is frequently becoming a cybercrime hotspot for malicious actors to deploy, malware and exploit existing vulnerabilities within the application.

Other than spreading fake messages and rumors, the Facebook-owned platform has become a tool for criminals to carry out nefarious activities like money frauds, job frauds, and more.

Falling prey to the malicious virus-infected message, multiple users of the platform have been found to sharing it on personal chats and groups, thus unknowingly spreading the Pink malware.

Aside from pretending to turn the application graphics, the WhatsApp Pink virus link claims itself as an official update of the application deployed by the application’s developers that will also append additional features.

As a result, users have recommended to not entertain such messages or links that prompt them to claim peculiar features. 

Downloading apps from unknown sources can compromise the device’s safety and could result in the loss of personal data.

Such malicious apps can be used to compromise your phone and steal personal data like photos, SMS, contacts, etc. Keyboard-based malware can be used to track everything you type. It can be used to capture and steal banking passwords. The current case of Whatsapp Pink is also a case of malware impersonating fake WhatsApp feature apps.

Hence, users are recommended to download applications and updates only from official app stores of authentic companies like the Play Store or the Apple App Store.
